Summit Theme:
Solving the Economic-Financial Crisis and its Impact on International Business by International Experts: Government Officials, Business Leaders and Academics.

Summit Aim:
The main aim of this Summit, WSEFCIB2009, is to provide an international platform for academics, business professionals and government officials from all over the world to come together to exchange ideas and come up with long term strategic approach to solve the economic-financial crisis and its impact on international business. WSEFCIB2009 will consist of workshops, tutorials, networking sessions, exhibitions, trade transactions, keynote speeches, paper presentations, panel discussions, and a tour of industries and places of tourist attraction in Washington DC Metro area. Accepted papers will be published in the CD Conference Proceedings. Best papers will be considered for publication in appropriate reputable journals.

The strategic approach for solving the economic-financial crisis will be disseminated to interested governments, businesses and academics. The International Experts will help implement the strategic approach.

Presenting "City-County Governments:  Using Combined Structure to Induce Economic Growth"

 

Mr. Joseph Brendan Baker, of the Office of the Indianapolis Mayor,  is the Assistant Director of International & Cultural Affairs for the City of Indianapolis, USA; Mr. Baker develops, manages, and administers Indianapolis’ international development & outreach, cultural, and Latino Affairs initiatives. Mr. Baker was the policy director for the Indiana State Department of Health’s Office of Minority Health.  He holds a BA from Purdue and an MS from Illinois State University. 

 

Ali Serhan Koyuncugil,

Ali Serhan Koyuncugil, M.Sc., Ph.D., is working as a statistician for Capital Markets Board of Turkey. His current research interests include design and development of fraud detection, risk management, early warning, surveillance, conducting analysis on capital markets, finance and health.
He is member of the IASC and IASS sections of ISI, Turkish Statistical Association, Turkish Informatics Society and was former vice head of Turkish Statisticians Association.  He has been taking part in a lot of international and national projects (UN, IBRD, EU, etc.). He is the author of chapter titled “Early Warning System for SMEs as a Financial Risk Detector” and the editor of “Surveillance Technologies and Early Warning Systems: Data Mining Applications for Risk Detection”.

 

Dr, Cathy Jabara, Senior Economist, U.S. International Trade Commission

Dr. Jabara is currently a Senior Economist with the U.S. International Trade Commission where she specializes in research related to international trade and global business.  Her recent research has focused on international trade and exchange rates, and U.S. trade with Sub-Saharan Africa.  Dr. Jabara received her Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University, and her B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia.  She has been previously employed with the government as an economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Treasury Department.  She has also taught economics at the U.S. Naval Academy, and worked as a Adjunct Professor at Cornell University, where she focused on the impact of macroeconomic policies on low-income people in Africa.
 

 

Dr Kathy Tannous, holds a  Grad Dip in FinPlan, an M AppFinInv, and a PhD in Econ fin. Dr. Tannous has been working as an applied and public policy economist for past 19 years. She started her career as a macroeconomist conducting economic evaluation of major infrastructure projects and modelling impact of international trade policies in Canada. Dr. Tannous has undertaken economic impact studies on infrastructure projects in Australia and Canada. She has worked as an economist at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, as an asset consultant with IPAC Securities, and as a consultant in the Economics Division at Coopers and Lybrand. She has undertaken projects in the Asia Pacific region including Laos, China, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Western Samoa and Fiji. Currently she is a research fellow at the Social Policy Research Centre at the University of New South Wales in Australia. 

 

Mr Soumya Banerjee, completed his legal education (BSL LLB) from Indian Society's law college, Pune, India. At present, he is working as an in-house counsel/Legal manager for the largest private sector Bank and is an integral part in its Corporate Legal Group. Mr. Soumya Banerjee’s interest lies in core topics involving corporate law. He has been a researcher in the reasons for the present financial debacle. He has written numerous articles on an array of topics in reputed national and international journals like the Bulletin for Monetary Economics and Banking, Washington journal of Law, and Social Science and Public Policy

 


 

Prosper M. Bernard, PhD,  MBA, BSc., BA, Summa Cum Laude, C.M.C.

Dr. Prosper M. Bernard is an internationally respected lecturer and consultant with
extensive experience in International Business Education especially in Latin America
and in China.
He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University Consortium of the Americas
and member of  the Board of a few private and public organizations.. He is a Professor of
Business at the University of Québec at Montreal. He served as Vice-rector and member of
the Board of the same university. He is a Canadian and an American citizen.

Profesor Matthew Kuofie, BS, MS, MBA, PhD

Professor Matthew Kuofie will be presenting “A Strategic Model for Addressing the Global
Economic Crises.” The main components of the model are 1) triple hybrid management and 

 2) knowledge management/IT. The subscomponents of the triple hybrid management are 1) government,

 2) academia, 3) corporate, 4) marketing, 5) management/economics, and 6) finance/accounting.

 From May 2009- July 2009,  he presented his Startegic Model --to governments, universities and businesses -- in many countries, including China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand,
United Arab Emirates and United Kingdon.
Dr. Matthew Kuofie is 1) a politician, 2)  a renowned global business management and information technology professor, and 2) a global business consultant. Professor Kuofie ran for Beverly Hills, Michigan, City/Village Council during the November 4, 2008 United States General Election. He is campaigning for the United States Congress. Due to Professor Kuofie’s outstanding accomplishments all over the world in academia, government/politics, global business and economic development, he was honored with a Wole Soyinka Education Award in Detroit, United States of America on August 1, 2009 by the All African Organizations/United African Community Organizations. The renowned Wole Soyinka won a Noble Prize in 1986.Prof Kuofie will have a one-on-one meetings with government, corporate, and university executives.

Dr. Ernest Nolan, Provost and VP for Academic Affairs

Madonna University, Michigan. USA

Dr. Ernest I. Nolan, Provost and Vice President for Academic Administration, Madonna University, Michigan, USA. Having worked in private higher education for the past 33 years, Dr. Nolan has moved through the ranks from being a teaching professor to become the provost and academic vice president.  During his career, he has earned recognition and awards from various organizations, including the Sears-Roebuck Foundation, Higher Learning Commission, Michigan Humanities Council, and schools and universities across the globe. With a doctoral degree from the University of Notre Dame, USA, Dr. Nolan’s first position was at Jundi Shapur University in Ahwaz, Iran.  After returning to the United States, been at Madonna University, Michigan, USA. His experience in global education has been extensive, having established programs and collaborative relationships in Taiwan, China, Dubai, Lebanon, France, Poland, and Egypt.

 Ms. Sagarika Chakraborty, qualified as an advocate from National Law University,India. She is currently working as counsel of a leading private Bank, in India She has been an active researcher under Centre for Human Rights and Research, (CHEARS) National Law University, Jodhpur, and has been a part of United
Nations Forum (2005, Seoul) to speak on Globalisation in Emerging Economies. He actively worked on Corporate Governance principles and has been a part of publications of Washington School of Law, Victoria University, Wellington and Association of Global Business, Washington,with regard to her ideas/papers on Corporate Law and her concerns for emerging and transition economies. She has been an active researcher on the debacles concerning the Financial System of her country in the present economic scenario and has expressed her ideas through two co-authored papers on Banking Laws which have been selected for publication in the Bulletin of Monetary Economics and Banking, published by Central Bank of Indonesia.

 

 

Prof. M. Basheer Ahmed Khan 

Prof. M. Basheer Ahmed Khan has been in the field  of Higher Education in India and abroad since 1971. He won his Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial  Trust Award for excellence in Personnel Management and also the Jewel of India Award. He held positions in academia like University Professor in Poona University, Head of the Department of Economics, Director of the Centre for Tourism Studies of  Pondicherry  University, Director of International College of Law, Business Administration and  Technology, Ajman, President (Vice Chancellor) of the Middle East University, UAE, Head of the Department of Management Studies, Pondicherry  University and the Dean and Senior Professor of the School of Management of Pondicherry University under the Government of India. He is associated with several sub committees of  the Indian University Grants Commission, Government of India, All India Council of Technical Education of the Government of  India and a member of  several state government and union government committees and of several Indian and foreign universities. He is an acclaimed Management  Expert providing Industrial training, Industrial Consulting and  an international consultant of Higher Education. 

 

Nermin Ozgulbas, M.Sc., Ph.D

Nermin Ozgulbas, M.Sc., Ph.D., is associate professor of finance at Baskent University in Turkey. She taught financial management, financial analysis and cost accounting in Baskent University, distance education program of Anadolu University and Turkish Ministry of Health. Her research and publication activities include finance, cost accounting, risk management, early warning systems, and data mining in especially SMEs, capital markets, health care organizations, and social security. She has been participating in a lot of international and national projects and conferences as an organizer, reviewer and advisor. Her latest researches are about early warning systems for financial crisis. She is the author of chapter titled “Early Warning System for SMEs as a Financial Risk Detector” in “Data Mining Applications for Empowering Knowledge Societies”, and the editor of “Surveillance Technologies and Early Warning Systems: Data Mining Applications for Risk Detection”.

He is a  member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico. Research professor at University Center fo Economic and Managerial Sciences, University of Guadalajara. Mexico, Visiting Scholar IURD- UCBerkeley, USA,. Visiting research professor at School of Public Administration, Carleton University, Canadá. He holds Ph. D. In Public Administration (Columbia States University), Ph.D. in Economics (Keele University, England). Studies in Organisational Behaviour (Lancaster University). Master of Business Administration in Industrial Management (Pacific States University). Marketing Certificate (The British Institute of Marketing). Diploma in Philosophy (Universidad Panamericana). Bachelor in Commercial Relations, Instituto Politécnico Nacional. More than 100 scientific papers and three books Publisher.

  Prof. ANNAMALAI SENGUTTUVAN holds a bachelor & Master degree in Engineering and a Ph.D., in Artificial Intelligence from University of Madras, India. Currently he serves as Dean (Academic) / Professor & Dean, Dept., of Computer Science & Engineering, in Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College,Andra Pradesh, India. He was invited by United Nations University-International Leadership Institute to attend an International Course on ‘LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE 21st CENTURY’ organized in the UNU-ILI premises in Amman, Jordan in March, 2006. He was also invited to present a Paper in the World Ethics Forum Conference sponsored & organized by World Bank in Keble College located in Oxford University, Oxford, United Kingdom in April, 2006. He has published 76 research papers in National and International Conferences / Journals and has visited Belgium, Dubai, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom.
